From Stills to Motion: Learning Videography on Australia’s Gold Coast – iPhone 13

Hey everyone! As many of you know, photography has been a passion of mine for a while now. But recently, I’ve felt the itch to explore a new creative outlet: videography. To kick things off, I challenged myself to capture a simple video on my iPhone 13 during a recent beach walk from Mermaid Beach to Surfers Paradise here on Australia’s stunning Goldcoast.

The video, which you can see above, isn’t meant to be a masterpiece. It’s a raw snippet of my journey, capturing the sights and sounds of the beach on a slightly overcast day. While the iPhone 13’s camera is fantastic, I’m still very much a beginner when it comes to videography, and that’s perfectly okay! This is the beauty of personal projects like this – it’s all about the learning process and the joy of exploration.

As you watch the video, you’ll get a glimpse of the vast coastline, the gentle waves lapping at the shore, and the occasional jogger or surfer enjoying the scenery. You might even spot a rather feisty seagull chasing its smaller counterparts around – a little drama always adds spice to life, even in the animal kingdom!

This short video is just the first step on my videography journey. I’m excited to learn more about camera movements, editing techniques, and storytelling through video. I’ll be sure to share my progress and learnings along the way, so stay tuned!

In the meantime, if you have any tips or advice for a budding videographer, feel free to leave a comment below. And, of course, let me know what you think of my first attempt!

Thanks for joining me on this creative adventure!

P.S. If you’re planning a trip to Goldcoast, I highly recommend the walk from Mermaid Beach to Surfers Paradise. It’s a beautiful way to experience the coastline and soak up the sun (or the cool breeze in my case!).
